I love our local antique book store, it smells of port royal tobacco and antique books...the floorboards creek, all of which adds to the atmosphere of purchasing dusty antique books in a historical township.
...I have purchased some bargains at that store, once I was quite literally sweating and trembling at the counter when I purchased a very rare antique book I had been after for quite some time for $18 which I knew fine well was worth well over $200 for a copy in poor repair.
It's in excellent condition...so would be worth about $380+ (leather bound)..
I felt like a book crook, was nervous, waiting for the owner of the store to tell me there had been some sort of mistake with respects to the cover price of the book....but no, after fumbling a little with some loose change in my purse, and dropping a few gold coins on the floor, I escaped with a bargain, quite exhilarating really, he obviously had no idea what this book was worth.
And for those interested, he has a copy of mark Lathams Diaries up in the Royal section (why I have no idea, when the political section right next to it would have been most appropriate, though you need a chair to reach it thus I have no idea what the price of it is...(I am a short person)....
Probably about $6, max!
...I already have this, so left Lathams diaries there for someone else.
