Trial by media? I don't think so.

When responsible authorities or those with a duty of care neglect to act appropriately to allegations when made, a proper function of the media is to invoke its role as the fourth estate and expose those allegations to the scrutiny of the public sphere.

The fact that Sarah claims no investigation was carried out when she originally complained justifies the route she chose to take and justifies A Current Affair's decision to air the story.

Together they have ensured a thorough police investigation will occur. Not before time.

The simple fact remains, had this matter been dealt with by channel 7's executives when the the allegations were first brought to their
attention 20 odd years ago, then this wouldn't be happening right now.

I say good on Sarah Monahan and at least a dozen others for having created media awareness.

Channel 7 had their chance 20 odd years ago to tell their side of the story to police when it first happened, though chose to silence their victims instead.

What goes around comes around.

Ben Oxenbould breaks silence about Hey Dad lead actor Robert Hughes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7SleI8w2c8

Robert Hughes is married to Robyn Gardiner - who owns RGM - and one of their clients and former Hey dad cast member is Ben Oxenbould confirmed that Robert Hughes did molest at least one child on set.
Ben Oxenbould is pictured on the Robyn Gardiner Management website as being represented by her for voice over work.

SO: Hughes own wife Robyn Gardiner OK'd the interview between her client Ben Oxenbould and ACA re- her own husbands dealings with small children on the Hey Dad set.

If you believed and had faith in your own husband, would you OK this this interview?

Think about it.

Well at least Ben Oxenbould had the balls to speak the truth, irrespective of him being represented by Robert Hughes wife Robyn Gardiner (on her RPG website) for voice work.

I have it on good advice that Robyn Gardiner (Robert Hughes wife) was told years ago by her best friend, though at the time simply wasn't prepared to believe the allegations.

I have a feeling she may have come to the realisation that her hubby is indeed what she was told he was all those years ago.

Even Robert Hughes friends and relatives have come forward, apparently sisters (friends of the family) who were little girls at the time have come forward also, have told police how he molested them in their beds.

Can they all be liars?

Borns, have a look at the above youtube clip.

This guy was part of the Hey Dad cast, (played Ben)... this and was/is being promoted by Robert Hughes Wife's company for voice work in Singapore, RPG is the name of the company.

So, it appears RPG didn't have a problem with Ben taking his story to ACA, this tells me Hughes wife might have finally figured out what her husband is and may be filing for a divorce as we speak.

Smile I know I would be , thats for sure.

Family friends, and even relatives have began speaking with the police, many of which are victims of his abuse themselves.

If his family and friends believed in Hughes, you would think they would stand by him, this opposed to making statements to police themselves?

I wonder if ACA knew Ben Oxenbould was being promoted by Robert Hughes wife's company RPG at the time of the interview?

Either way, this stands to damage Robert Hughes further.

These child stars are often their families bread winners, so,...

And who knows, their own parents may have been victims of this sort of abuse also... if so, then they themselves may have passed on entrenched values into their own kids re- speaking out.

Especially if they are threatened by powerful TV executives and told that neither they or their kids will ever get work in this country again if they spill.

Who knows, they may have even had them sign some sort of confidentiality agreement (this happens often) in exchange for a large sum of cash.

Whats known is that Sarah Monahan began showing signs of abuse at school, (according to school counsellors) when she began drawing punctures of p3nises in her school books during class.

This is the problem with Australia, we have an entrenched culture of keeping our dirty little secrets to ourselves, and the gruelling and often contemptuous, lazy legal system further reinforces this as can be demonstrated by only 1% of reported cases only making it to court in NSW alone.

This really has to change!

And the only way to do this is to bring about awareness.
Victims might start thinking "Well if Australian celebrities can do this, come forward, then hey, we can too."

This is what they are worried about.

Smile

The channel seven executives and management set about mechanically solving this problem internally as though those who had been wronged,(made the allegations) were merely commercial property , products on a display line.
Easily done in this industry, everything has a dollar value. Even people.

If the product breaks, you buy another one, (replace it)... this in itself demonstrated the dehumanising, mechanical manner in which these executives set about solving the sexual abuse problem/allegations they were entrusted with handling, (and quite generously I might just add) on their sets, of which involved real life children, not stage puppets or expendable objects which could be replaced and forgotten about at their discretion.
