Why only now are these 'correct' critics creeping out of the woodworks?

From her boat being named after an apple, to her not having covered enough kilometres.

What really annoyed me was their "new rules" which states age, gender race is no longer taken into consideration, when sailing around the world. Ok, if this is the case, then why was it an issue when recently they kicked up a stink about a suspected hermaphrodite (with too many male hormones) winning a running race?

Some might argue feminists wanted equality, and specific ethnic groups also...but I just find it ironic how they are only now , just as she's nearing her adventure , jumping up and down about it.

I swear, if I hear another thing from that Pink Apple company, I'll never eat another one again.


I don't like their Pink floury sickly sweet apples anyway.

In my view, whether or not she satisfied som arbitrary rule, and whether or not she 'broke the 'record', it was a fantastic achievement, and one of which she can feel justifiably proud.

And I just LOVE seeing the egg all over the faces of the Nay-sayers and Dismal Jimmies who thought or hoped that she'd fail.

It just annoys me now how all the nay-sayers are jumping out of the woodwork with something else to satisfy their thirst for squelching this girls burning enthusiasm to succeed. Well, it's too late, she already has, and there's not a thing (all bar sabotaging her boat) they can do about it...with or without their sponsorship and support.

Perhaps if Pink Lady (apples) had become her sponsor, rather than complain about the name of her boat, comparing apples with um, er well boats, (this opposed to oranges) they might be feeling a little different about the whole thing.



Admittedly, I was nervous about it to begin with..(from a parenting perspective imagining my own daughter out there)...but I'll bet her parents are just pleased to bits at the finish line.

I know I would be.

In fact, I think her parents will be just happy to see her full stop, this will be looking forward to her getting off the boat in one peace after being at sea for so long.


Pretty scary stuff, she's only 16, my sons a strapping tall 15 year old going 16...and I think I would be out of my mind with worry.


This and be just glad to cuddle him.

I'll bet they haven't had a descent nights sleep since she left.





I wonder what it would feel like being on a boat for that long, walking back on solid ground again.
