I am getting so tired of the more politically correct/polite terms such as "Un-Australian" being exhausted by our media, this and used against us to describe how we as a western nation feel about Muslims strolling through our streets with their faces covered.
Look, could one of you ask Kochie to define the term un-Australian for me please, because from my way of thinking, what could be more 'UN-AUSTRALIAN' than wandering through our Australian streets intimidating the public.
Is this social, this and consistent with their becoming an Australian citizen?
Or is there simply no such think as Australian citizenship, a sense of belonging anymore in the wake of Kevin Rudd having made a decision to render us a part of Asia by 2020?
I don't have a problem with Muslim woman wearing a veil, though I do think it's UN-AUSTRALIAN this and disrespectful to our existing Australian culture, people to expect tolerance, acceptance, this and trust ... when it's clear, they don't even deem us worthy of so much as allowing us to see their faces.
A cultural thing my ass, this is a fundamentalist revival of Islam itself, unnerving the Australian public, this and making a political statement by intentionally veiling up knowing exactly how we feel about their hiding their faces.
We are seeing young Muslim girls wearing Niqabs as a political statement, not even their own mothers, grandmothers who were born overseas wear these garments themselves half the time. Dont tell me this is a mere devout cultural thing, this is blatant defiance, and an expression of their unwillingness to Australianise, .... pushing the boundaries of political correctness screaming discrimination, simply because our jelly-fish bureaucracy panders to it always.
We need a government with a back-bone, this opposed to a Rudd government pandering to minorities for their own agenda.
When you come to Australia, you should come here with a view to assimilate with mainstream Australia, this and demonstrate a willingness, a want to become just that ....Australian!
If now, why bother immigrating at all, if our western way of life is not to their liking?
I am not asking them to abandon their culture or beliefs at the airport terminal, this or leave their Koran on the boat, all I'm asking is that if we are expected to accommodate them, this and their desire to uphold their own culture, then surely, it's give and take, meaning they should at least make an effort to demonstrate a willingness to want to form part of who and what we are as a western people.
If I decided to immigrate to Saudi Arabia, this and knew I was offending the nation which had granted me residency by wearing miniskirts, showing the soles of my feet, this or knew it would stand to compromise my capacity to integrate positively within mainstream society, I would not wear the skirt or expose my soles out of respect for their existing culture, their people who welcomed me into their country.
They need to stop abusing our hospitality, this and pushing the boundaries.
I would be grateful that they had accommodated me to begin with, this and would not wish to offend, or insult their generosity by intentionally being defiant and or wearing things I know would stand to make them feel uncomfortable in their own country, this and wouldn't want them thinking I was disrespectful.
This is the problem, Muslims don't see this as being 'our' country, they see Australia as being a western country, and neither does Rudd.
Australianise or get out.
