Gold ....lets take another look...

Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au, what if a future communist global economy, Au'os were the only viable currency left worth investing in when all else loses it's value?

Do you think this is possible, or do you remain adamant that gold is old currency, and not worth investing in now we have pieces of paper not worth the ink their printed with?

I am no economist, though I do wonder about the virtues of old currency such as gold, particularly during hard economical times.
