What a load of bullshit.
He was reflecting back on the days when political correctness was more or less considered pompous snobbery, mostly reserved for polite company.
Perhaps it's true, some Australians are not in touch with how much we have changed in terms of whats now been defined as 'incorrect'.... though I think sometimes our more youthful and racially--cultural--politically sensitive generation of apologists (it's trendy to be sorry these days you see) ... are not at all in-touch with older Australian Colloquialism, views, and even values. Remember these Australia?
When once upon a time it was politically incorrect to be caught lying bare face to those who elected you to run their country?
When being down-to-earth and 'Frank' was the Australian way, something we prided ourselves on?
This coach probably got up and gave a speech after having reminisced over the old days and just matter of factually told it like it was in Australian football 15+ years ago in the spirit of the moment.
Since when was freedom of colloquial expression a crime, when describing the way we were in the past?
It's like we are supposed to forget our own language, forget who we were, and or how we would often use these colloquial terms which are now deemed career altering 'racial slurs'...and why?
Because being a victimous minority pays better than being a proud Australian.
Bit extreme don't you think?
And to think, these are the very people demanding tolerance and understanding from others when they for the life of them wont accept our Australian legends of yesterday, this and make a point of picking their commentary to peaces for their own agenda.
As for myself, I'm going to sit back and wait for political correctness itself to become politically incorrect again.
I'll give it about 5 or so years.
Who the hell is anyone to tell us how we as individuals should think feel and express ourselves?
Leave the poor old bastard alone you serial white guilt apologists, and accept the fact that people of yesterday think and do speak differently to the way a more 'correct' 'brainwashed' Australia speaks today.
The day Australian football lost it's balls!
Football being at the heart of Australian culture, next they will be banning our meat-pies and holden Cars.
Wake up Australia, and see this for what it is and stop allowing yourselves to succumb to politically endorsed media hype.
You know somethings wrong with the state of our 'Ruddy' country when some old bloke cant even reminisce , get up and speak of his past colloquially, honestly, without being branded a racist.
Had he been black, noone would have bat an eye!
