I didn't realise how many were actually living in one or waiting for one.

Now, things make more sense in regards to the bogan factor in yahoo.

I reckon you have been watching too much ACA/TT, they just LOVE to make out that all Public Housing tenants are grubs, bogans, druggos, or violent criminals.

Sorry to disappoint, but I am none of the above.

I believe government housing should be reserved for those who are either elderly (pensioners who don't own their own homes) or those who have disabilities, be they physical or mental.

They aren't really suitable for single parented family's or family's in general, given the cost of leasing one is on par with renting a private property these days anyway.

But for people like my friend, who had a cerebral haemorrhage about 15 years ago..(leaky blood vessel in his brain ) ...who was a musician, had a printing company, (a male partner who left him shortly after) and was a song writer, (a successful one) ....who now lives in a bed sitter with his cat, this it's suitable for him as it's secure, and he knows he can stay there until he dies....this or will be relocated by the department if the need arises.

For family's whereby at least one parent/adult is working, I think they should be expected to pay for private housing to free up these properties for people (like my friend) who genuinely needs them, and doesn't stand a great chance of re-entering the workforce.

My friend was struck down in his prime, had the world at his feet, and one day these elastic rubber band migraines he describe to specialists for years, ever since he was a child even....revealed themselves to have a cause, given he has never had another headache since the vessel in his brain burst.

I just don't think they should be handed out willy nilly.

The rate it is now, anyone can apply for one if they are willing to wait long enough of which make those who are genuinely in need wait for years for theirs to become available.

My friend spent several months longer than he really should have at another mutual friend of ours place because there just weren't any available, and this wasn't fair on our friend and his young family....because they were strapped for room as it was.

Vich, I don't know your personal circumstances, and I'd rather you didn't give those who might not be able to control themselves any ammo or personal information about your circumstances here.... but I will always maintain, charity or government assistance should be reserved for the genuinely needy, not for those who simply want the security of a long term address,(which comes with government housing and owning your own home) though are lazy, and aren't prepared to work for it.

Nice cat btw...he/she looks better behaved than my little man , of which still hasn't forgiven me for Sundays trip to the vet...or the antibiotics I keep forcing down his neck.

He is cunning and knows when I have put anything in his food, so crushing them is not an option for osiris.

The minute I pick up the container, or he hears it, he bolts.

Melli

Do you think the fact you judge your friend to be a 'good citizen' makes him 'more deserving' in your eyes to public housing?

Public housing has pretty strict eligibility criteria and a huge waiting list to actually get a house once you are deemed eligible - with regular reviews of your status along the way.

Do you really believe that people who did not need it would go through that process?

Public housing IS reserved for the genuinely needy.

Some people are just lazy buggers who don't really need them to begin with....working couples who stay on in their parents department/co-op home also (pretending to be their carers)... after their parents have gone into care.... it's referred to as the welfare mentality/mindset....(false/misplaced sense of percieved entitlement ) generations of family's handing departmental properties down to their kids who then repeat the cycle of dependency on a welfare state. I think they should be forced to evacuate and reapply for their own, but sadly, they get to stay on in most cases long after the person they were caring for has left or deceased.

Now I know why I was not in the Kewl-club then. Yahouso!7

These sorts of people serve to reinforce their own senseless dependency on a system which is supposed to be there for those who really need it.

They pride themselves on scamming the government, scamming others in general...as though the world owes them a living.

I KNOW you're talking shit.

And, unlike you, I NEVER hid who I am. AND can post the proof.

Also, I have NEVER defended Ferguson, and NEVER 'started a thread' on porn OR 'went ape-shit' and have NEVER supported kiddy or animal porn.

YOU are the sick fuck here, not me.

Dennis Ferguson is a cockroach, and deserves to be dead.

As does anyone else who gets off on damaging and exploiting innocent others, because their own lives are so trashed.

Yep, he's a funny little thing, he has a special little miow .(asside from his typical demanding raucous oriental roar) ..he only reserves for me.
In my cat psychology book they call it the "kitten Call".... a victimous little sookie baby cry he uses to suck me in every single time.
