My daughter is home from school today, (she hurt her ankle at school yesterday, a sprain)...and we have not long finished watching Polly, the movie together, re- the little girl with the speech impediment and the talking parrot.

Anyway, upon her relating to me how she felt the film should have ended, this and suggesting an alternative and quite comical ending, I giggled,.... she then rolled her eyes and reassuringly advised that I just needed to think outside the circle when I smiled and said "It's square, "One must think outside the square"...when she corrected, "It might be a square for you mummy, but it's a circle for me."

Now, if that's not truly thinking outside the square, then I don't know what is Wink

My daughters amazing, is 13, and has autism...this and well and truly thinks outside the square.

Cool ....so proud of her.

Lol, naa, she's much smarter than me....lol...

The alternative ending she had in mind for the movie was an eagle swooping down and attacking Polly the Parrot...*chuckles*...you know the tear jerker ending/part whereby the Parrot (Polly) suddenly recognises the girl (now a grown woman) Maree, then flies to greet her after she starts singing a song he recalled she used to sing to him when she was a little girl? *sobs*

ahahahh ..... My daughter has a tendency to watch the same movie over and over again, I swear, it was necessary for me to go out this morning and buy both the Squeakles (Chipmunk movie) and Alice in Wonder land....the new one with Johnny Depp in it.

For I couldn't bare another day of watching Polly the parrot...aaarrrg, is why I wasn't online much yesterday.

:)btw, if you spend more than $100 at Coles, you get Alice in Wonderland for $16.

I went shopping early this morning...and was so glad I did...they only had 3 left!

With school holidays coming up...you have to be quick!

I might get some peace now.

Wink ...Autistic kids get fixations with things....for my daughter it's movies, of which she'll happily watch over and over again...this and seem to enjoy it in a different way each time she watches it and creates a new ending for it. lol...

pmsl.... Mr Baldy B!!

cheers ...i'm glad I wasn't online much yesterday, seriously, Brock needs help.

Whenever someone mentions their kids, it's like a trigger whereby he becomes either perverted or hostile/aggressive.

I don't think he even has kids of his own, despite what he tells people online.

If he did, he wouldn't talk that way about them or other peoples...this or accuse innocent others for doing so just to get his grubby rocks off, the sicko.

Anyway, enough of that....it's a lovely morning...don't particularly want to spoil it by even thinking of that clown.

My son already had Alice in Wonderland (when it was first released at the cinemas), but it wasn't a great copy.... so... Now we have a good one.

And re- the wit and intelligence concerning high functioning autistic kids....see, this is just it, they are quite literal, and they don't always intentionally say comical things to be witty, (although this time she did re- the alternative ending of the movie)...but with the thinking outside the circle thingy, she was being very serious when she told me I think outside the square, whereas she thinks outside the circle.

She even saved my life once..whereby she won a bravery community award.

Nope, not dumb, not stupid, far from it, she's incredible with numbers and puzzles, just socially awkward and off-beat.

It's like their brains are wired differently, not in the same way ours are, and because of this, they generally don't pick up on the social cues required to function normally in a mainstream school, this or stay safe.

Eg, you know that photo shopped pic I posted of Dennis Ferguson zipping out of Justin Biebers body...(as though he were wearing a Justin Beiber outfit....

her, i'll show you...

Well, she didn't talk to me for 3 days after this, (not properly anyway), she doesn't quite understand when people are having a joke, and or are being nasty.

Like when the boys in primary school would throw their hats into a tree and tell her to get it, they told her they were fascinated with her climbing skills, this or needed her help, when in actual fact that were mocking her, this and looking up her school dress.

She came home and told me how she had some new friends and that they were boys, (back in year 6)...the boys who had been picking on her prior to this, when she beamed,"They like me now because I help them get their things out of the tree, she had no idea they were actually throwing their property into the tree on purpose so they could laugh at her fetching them.

Kids will be kids, they don't always understand.

But she's in a fantastic school now, she's incredibly happy here.

One of the boys in her class recently achieved outstanding maths results in some sort of prestigious maths competition, he's in year 10 apparently... (her class has clusters of tables, and caters for 24 children from years 7 to 10).... they have three support classes in this particular schools support unit however, and each class has 3 teachers and a teachers aid. So it's pretty full on, and each child has their own individual education program tailored specifically to their needs.

We just need more of these types of support units, as kids can wait for up to 5+ years to get a spot.

A little boy had to die (had a heart problem) before she was granted a placement, and only because we kicked up a huge fuss with the director of education and threatened them with the media. I even rang a reporter, and the reporter called them and requested an interview, just to hit it home we weren't mucking about.

Within a week, she was miraculously placed, however her former mainstream high-schools principle (who is lovely) had a lot to do with it also, as she really pushed for her to be placed urgently at the selection panel. Was a combination of a few things that got her there so quickly. This said, it shouldn't have to be like this, I mean, what about the poor buggers/parents who are incapable of confidently taking on the the department the way I did this or effectively being their child's advocate? it's hard enough as it is, let alone having to endure the BS red-tape.

An Abbott government will be making changes to ensure more autistic kids are catered for.

Hence i'm so hell bent on him getting in this election.

Smile....

Labor have made such a mess of things where childcare, disability support services, special needs, education in general, even for regular kids is concerned.

Perhaps if Julia Gillard had a child with a disability, this or could relate personally with being a parent in distress due to a lack of services, she might have done things a little differently.

You know what Labors response to extra funding for autistic kids was initially?

And this is off the record, so I have no way of proving this is the overall view/consensus of the Labor party despite my knowing for fact that this is exactly what was said....

"Lets not turn autistic children into another stolen generation"

Labor have well and truly lost my vote/respect, never will I vote for this party!

Disgraceful!

Condescending and dismissive for both autistic children and indigenous Australians whom they vowed were deserving of the funding they had been granted,(of which has widened the gap)... but in saying this, clearly tells me they had their regrets in doing so, begrudged it, only did it because they felt they needed to in order to appeal to the left.

Sorry Gillard, but I wasn't aware autism was a cultural thingy, you sanctimonious cow.

See, funding only counts where votes are concerned.

Ok, all politicians lie, but the lies are much easyier to swallow when at least the economies doing ok.... all Labor do is spend.

Electricity has gone up again guys!

Ironic considering Gillard herself immigrated to Australia with her family under medical advise to escape the cold Welsh climate as it wasnt good for her bronchial phenmonia and scared lungs.

Imagine how many elderly people and low income familys young kids will perish due to their not being able to afford to run their airconditioners and keep warm?

Solution?

Brn them all to death with a shoddy insulation program.

What a joke!

Thanks Vich, yep, and she's gone to her grandparents place for a week now, *sobs* am going to miss her.

Except when we pick her up on the way to organised school holiday activities, like we did yesterday...as it gives my son a break, so he can have teen fun with his mates, (who by the way will be practically living here for a fortnight)..lol....he loves his sister dearly, and she loves him, but they do annoy the christ out of each other...sometimes.

So the break is good for both of them...I guess, even if I do miss her.

Crying or Very sad
