A SPORTS coach plied children with spiked milkshakes and drug-laced macaroni so he could molest and film them, a court has heard.
The man, 38, is accused of abusing nine children including close relatives and members of his basketball team.
But police fear there could be more alleged victims, as the man coached children's basketball from the early 1990s until last year in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
He was also a runner for a junior football team.
Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard the alleged victims reported feeling strange and sleeping a lot after being served lime milkshakes, baked beans and macaroni by the man.
Police found videos on the man's computer of what appeared to be drugged children committing sex acts in the man's room.
Det-Sgt Paul Berry said some victims had identified themselves in still images taken from the man's computer.
He said one video showed boys aged about six who looked drug-affected.
The court heard a medical expert said the effects described by the children after the suspect meals were consistent with use of diazepam, a sedative prescribed to the man.
Police found a stash of the drug with condoms and lubricant hidden under a bed head in his room during a search, the court heard.
Det-Sgt Berry opposed the man's bid for bail, saying new charges of had been laid against the man including harassing witnesses.
The man, who was supported in court by three women, can't be named to protect the identities of the victims.
The Westmeadows man withdrew his bail application and was remanded in custody and is due to return to court in April.
